Collin Conrad

Specialization in Biochemistry Research with Prof. Cameron Mura

Collin is originally from Lynchburg, VA and is a graduate of Brookville High School. He is pursuing a specialization in biochemistry and has performed research in the Mura Lab within the Chemistry Department since the spring of his second year investigating homologous bacterial Hfq proteins. These proteins have pleiotropic effects in the bacterial cell playing roles in translation suppression, RNA decay, quorum sensing, and stress response. Collin’s current research uses biochemical and crystallographic approaches in order to structurally and functionally characterize the Hfq from Neisseria gonrrhoeae. Following graduation, Collin hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
