Shay Nimjareansuk

Specialization in Biochemistry Research with Dr. Salem Faham

Shay is from Alexandria, VA and graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School. He has been performing research in the Faham Lab since the fall of his third year. Shay is studying the characterization of the MATE family multi-drug transporter MepA from S. aureus. He is primarily focused on the characterization of binding by fluorescence and polarization analyses of ethidium bromide bound to MepA. He is currently investigating the putative binding site(s) using fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) analysis. Shay plans to take a gap year before applying to medical school. In his spare time, he likes to play the guitar in addition to playing on an adult soccer league on the weekends.
