Specialization in Biochemistry.  Research with Dr. Pat Concannon

Genetic and enteric microbiome factors may play a role in the cycle of malnutrition. The research that I am conducting under Dr Concannon at the UVa School of Medicine incorporates genetic mapping and sequencing of approximately one million single nucleotide polymorphisms that have shown a strong correlation with malnutrition. By tracing the collection of polymorphisms across a statistically significant population of DNA samples, one is able to assess the legitimacy of the proposed association between imputed SNP genotypes and the malnourished phenotype.
